What dish size and which satellite receiver card I must have for reception and do you sell it ?

For continental Europe you need satellite antenna dish with universal LNB converter maximum 120 cm pointed to Astra 1D satellite on position 23.5 east. For other countries in Northern Africa or Middle East see the footprint picture on our page "basic conditions" or consult you local dealer of satellite equipment. Satellite DVB cards you must buy locally and install it. we recommend technisat Sky star2 but you can use any type of DVB card like Pentamedia, Telemann, Siemens, Fujitsu, Technotrend, Hauppauge, Pinnacle, Broadlogic, Twinhan, Kiss or any other brand. Any part of hardware like dish or DVB card you must buy and install locally, we are not selling or installing any kind of hardware.

Do I need analog or digital receiver satellite box ?

For using this receiver you do not need satellite receiver box 'cause the satellite DVB card in your PC have on board receiver already.

Do I need dial up modem connection (33.6, 56, ISDN, wireless, cable, ADSL or GPRS)?

Dial up modem or any other kind of your existing connection is needed to connect to your local provider for uplink cause all requests are demanded through standard internet. Our service is one way internet only downlink.

Do I have to be all time connected to my local provider during surf or when downloading bigger files?

Our service does not support offline surf nor download. All the time you must be online while surfing or downloading.

What is the bandwidth for every user?

We have bandwidths up to 256 kbit/sec, 512 kbit/sec and 1 mbit/sec depending which package you are subscribed to. Download speed from internet now depends of server connection or overload of system or server from which you are downloading. This service is not for Heavy Downloader which are downloading Gigabytes data monthly because the bandwidth of heavy users will be more reduced the more customers are using the service.We have designed the service to be as open and flexible as possible, while ensuring fair access for all users. Unlike other services, where hard transfer limits apply over which you are charged per additional MB, Astrasat employ a Fair Access Policy. In summary this means that during peak usage times, heavier users of the service will experience more reduction in their connection speed, ensuring an equitable access for all users throughout the day. So we recommend if You planning this service for often heavy download not to subscribe cause You are not going to be satisfied.

To which local provider I should connect for uplink ?

You can access the internet for uplink with your existing local ISP anywhere within the Astra coverage. We recommend that you connect via GPRS (mobile phone) it's cheapest and your mobile and stabile phone line is free for voice calls all the time.

Can I watch scrambled satellite TV channels?

You can watch all free to air TV and Radio channels. For descrambling of protected satellite channels you must search for help on some other place on Internet. We do not have technical support for TV channels or anything related.

How much do I have to pay for subscription renewal or reactivation. Can I make a pause. Do you have a test account ?

You can subscribe any time you want to. We have subscriptions at 256, 512 kbit/sec and 1 mbit/sec. Minimum period is one month. If you subscribe for a one year you get 20 % discount. Your account wont be renewed automatically after subscribed period. If you were our subscriber and then make a pause, just renew your subscription and we will reactivate your account. Activation or reactivation is free of charge. Also you can change your bandwidth after your subscription is ended for next period to higher or lower bandwidth.

We don't have a test accounts. Minimum period is one month for 10 euro flat. Not a big risk for testing.

Are there any additional costs for MB or time ?

Additional costs are your phone bill to local ISP and access to your local ISP. We don't have no additional or hidden costs, our subscriptions are monthly or yearly unlimited fee.

Can I use satellite internet access in local area network (LAN) ? How many computers maximum?

It is possible to share our connection in all local networks. Simple configuration of Guest computers in internet explorer Tools/Internet options/Connections/LAN Settings enter 192.168.0.1 port 9202 and you will share satellite access of main computer. There is no need to have satellite card in every PC except in main and you need only one satellite subscription. Number of PCs in LAN is determined by You, but you must know that all computers will share one bandwidth. This service is not for resale of connection or mostly download. For example small wireless providers which are linked 24 hours and constantly downloading, cause very fast they will be set as heavy downloader and switched to best effort channel, and speed can be often reduced. Yes, you must configure P2P software SOCKS 5 port 9203 IP 127.0.0.1. Some of the software requires to be reinstalled again.

Can I play Multiplayer games over the internet faster with your satellite internet ?

You will have same speed like with dial up, because you must still use your modem or any other connection which you are using now for uplink.

Which operational software you support? Can I have it on MacIntosh or Linux?

Our software supports Windows 98 SE, Windows ME, Windows 2000 Professional SP2 and Windows XP Home and Professional. We recommend Windows XP.

What is the minimum PC configuration ?

For connecting to satellite internet access, minimum PC configuration is standard Pentium 500 MHz equipped with satellite DVB card or DVB USB box. Operational system: Windows XP

Is it possible to receive TV and Radio channels from other satellites?

It is possible but for this you must have motorized dish, and for surfing internet again you must point to Astra 1D at 23.5 east.

I just activated my satellite subscription and it shows 32 KB, or at subscriptions at 512 kbit/sec shows 64 KB, why is that?

Difference is KiloByte:kbit = 1:8

256kbit/sec :8 = 32 KB or 512 kbit/sec : 8 = 64KB or 1024 kbit/sec : 8 =128 KB

I can not get successful test result in final step of installation of Astra Proxy software, and I did everything right?

First you must disable all firewall software, protecting, shield software and windows connection firewall which you can configure later. Then you have to connect to your local ISP for uplink. Also before installation you must set your DVB card to our transponder. We recommend that you download and read carefully manual from our web site.

Can I use satellite modem (DVB card) as a TV receiver ?

Yes, all DVB cards are in same time digital satellite receivers. There's no need for additional receiver box..

Where and how I can subscribe ?

You can subscribe from any country in Europe, North Africa and Middle East. See our footprint coverage on page "Basic conditions". Subscription can be done by Wire transfer from your bank or with Western Union. Visit our "How to subscribe" page and make your choice.

Can I have my satellite e mail address from you?

No, we don't provide e mails. But with our service subscription you can download all your existing e mails with satellite connection much faster. In our manual there is explanation how to configure your mail client to redirects all incoming e mail to satellite connection for fast download.
